I hate this cover - it looks like Barbie Doll and her daughter, and the horses are much too big. They promised me they would change it for the paperback and they did - they printed the title black instead of white!

Notes

Sandringham Rose is actually a fictionalized version of Louise Cresswell's story, but written before I did my recent research to produce her true-life story  The Prince's Thorn. Rose is the daughter of a farmer and she does have fights with the Prince of Wales (Edward VII), who pursues her with lusty intent, but her personal story ends more happily than that of the real-life Louise.

And, as I discovered when I did my in-depth research, Louise was NOT the object of the Prince's romantic desires. That was a fiction invented by an earlier biographer to add a bit of spice to his tale.

Child of Secrets is another late Victorian story set in Norfolk from the 1890s to 1920 (hence the pram on the cover, which sees Jess bringing the child back to where he belongs). Whose child is he? Ah, you'll have to read the book!

The Clouded Land is also set in and around the area where I live, this time against a background of WW1. It was in Norfolk that the first bombs were dropped by enemy Zeppelins. War coming so close to home came as a huge shock to the residents. My heroine is an English girl raised in Germany, so her loyalties and affections are inevitably divided as the war begins. It's also a story of the suffragettes and the work women were obliged to take on for the first time during 1914-18.
