LATEST NEWS Proposed cover of book

My updated History of the PMRAFNS (RAF Nurses), which includes three new chapters bringing the story up to 2014, is now available in the shops and on electronic devices to coincide with the First World War anniversary commemorations and, hopefully, to catch the Christmas trade.  The publishers feel that the original book's title SKY WARDS is not quite right, so they have retitled it WARDS IN THE SKY, the RAF's remarkable nursing service.

Meanwhile... publishers Orion have produced new editions of COBWEBS AND CREAM TEAS and its companion title DRY ROT AND DAFFODILS, the 'Felbrigg Hall' series, stories of life behind the scenes in a National Trust house, see Books. Also available as eBooks, these titles have now been in print for 20-odd years. Many thanks to Orion for their continuing belief in them.

Kindle Books: I have launched my latest, CHRIS, see Books, under the banner of our own publishing company, Morningside Publishers. CHRIS is my late husband's personal story and has been selling amazingly well in paperback locally, as well as in electronic form. To connect with my Kindle page go to Mary Mackie at Amazon

Short stories have been occupying my time, too (anything to avoid housework!), though most of them are a bit quirky with no immediately obvious market. I plan to bring a selection out in eBook format, just for the hell of it. For a sample, have a read of the Story here.

Mary lives on the coast of eastern England, in beautiful Norfolk, not far from Sandringham House. She and her late husband (who died in August 2014) have two brilliant and successful sons, two charming daughters-in-law and four wonderful grandchildren. (Are you reading this, family?) Besides full-length books, Mary has published many short stories and articles and has written and produced several one-act plays. She has also appeared in several major productions presented by the Princess Players of Hunstanton, Norfolk, and hopes to do more with them. A highlight was playing Clairee in 'Steel Magnolias' in 2012, for which Mary received rave reviews.

She is the founder of four separate writing groups and has taught several well-filled classes in Creative Writing.

Wearing her public-speaker hat, she travels far and wide to give Talks illustrated by PowerPoint Presentations which she designs herself - another enjoyable hobby. Talk subjects cover a wide range from the ups and downs of her writing career to the true-life history researched for her non-fiction.

She also designs and maintains two websites, including this one; so if there are bloopers you will know why!!  The other website is for the Princess Players (formerly the Princess Theatre Club) find them at:
